Anyone who has seen the cult Australian movie The Castle will already be predisposed to the joys of a bug zapper.
For those who have not seen this brilliant celebration of the underdog, an explanation may be in order about the heroic cinematic role played by the family’s bug zapper. But you really should see this Aussie classic for yourself.
For while the themes of The Castle are universal, bug zappers have come a long way since the 1980s when the movie was made. Back then when one of Aussie’s favourite fictional families sat in darkness on the deck of the holiday home at Bonnie Doon enjoying the serenity, the silence was only punctuated by the buzzing of the enormous and hostile bug zapper above their heads.
